Everyone wants to know right off the jump how much its going to cost. Until you figure out PURPOSE, PAGES, FEATURES and ELEMENTS we can’t come up with a realistic budget that will balance the actual cost of production with what features you want.
Remember that you are employing a service which you expect will exceed your expectations. By allocating the proper capital and having it ready to invest you are ensuring there will be no hiccups in launching the site. Your time is too precious to waste doing the tango.
Perhaps a solution if you don’t have the money right now to invest in a website, is to work with your current budget and create a first version with the basic functions you require, then as business permits we can add new features.
Many people who want a website built underestimate the cost because they don’t realize that alot of stuff goes on during research and development stages that can be both tedious and time-consuming but are hard to quantify.
Another thing to think about is that even-though you will always get my personal touch, if I have to think for you (for example, actually write from scratch about your services and company) that is going to increase the budget because writing content takes time and thought, and time costs money. However, if you give me the content and are only looking for me to do basic proofing and editing, it isn’t costing anything because I do it anyway when coding the content. The same principle more or less applies to every type of element that will make up your site.
I can’t speak for my competition, but I win nothing by trying to cheat my clients. I have learned that even the most demanding projects and companies will eventually come to a close. By striving to do an outstanding job every time I am guaranteed to get good critique of my work and great referrals.
During our consultation we can discuss and brainstorm solutions to fit your budget so that the end-result is clean, professional and easy to enjoy.
