“so what’s it gonna cost?”

Business & Tech Advice - 1 year ago - admin

Everyone always wants the bottomline before they even figure out what they want.

Lets rephrase the question: “how much of an investment should I be looking to secure in order to create an effective online (or print, or both) marketing campaign?”

What are we saying?

It costs money to make money, but rather than thinking about it as COST, think about it as an INVESTMENT in your brand. When it comes to creating a website to market or showcase a brand, what you put in is what you will get out. If you try to cut corners, the end result will be corner-less.

How do you maximize your budget?

Read more about scheduling a consultation and budgeting cost to get a better idea on where to begin.

PLANNING and COMMUNICATION are key. The more thought you give to what you want, the easier it will be to map out a plan. You have to be able to effectively communicate what you are looking to do. I can then take your ideas and research solutions matching your budget to incorporate into the overall campaign.

Where is Andy Macdonald?

Talking Smack - 1 year ago - admin

Perhaps you might be wondering WHO is Andy Macdonald?

Anyone who has been following my evolution has seen the illustration of me (currently the focal image in my banner and business cards). Andy Macdonald is the very talented illustrator that created that for me. So yes, according to Andy, that is what I would look like in the wonderful world of illustrations – pretty hot if you ask me!

I used to watch him quietly sketch his thoughts and tell him that one day I was going to find a way to put him up on a billboard. Well, I definitely don’t have a budget for that just yet, but if anyone else does, please find him and put his work on a billboard because his talents need to be seen.

ERROR: I hope you backed up your hd

Business & Tech Advice - 1 year ago - admin

I can’t express with words or graphics the importance of backing up your hard drive. Any money INVESTED in an external hard drive is worth every cent because piece of mind cannot be monetized.

My attempt to back up my hard drive over a long impatient weekend full of glitches and error messages led me to Tekserve where I was informed everyones greatest nightmare: “just to prepare you for the worst case, you might need a new hard drive”... then after diagnostic “yea, so I am not really sure how your computer is even running – it crashed”. The outcome was that thankfully even as my computer slowly crashed into the afterlife, it still turned on and ran well enough (sort of) to let me back up as much as I could.

Not everyone’s computer shares the same values as mine (which runs even when there is no reasonable explanation as to how it even turned on). Had I not been able to backup my files I would’ve lost blood, sweat, tears, free labor, bartered labor, bored labor – I would’ve lost a chunk of my life.

YOU TRY:

1. INVEST in an external hard drive that fits the requirements of the file sizes you will be archiving. Be sure to leave room for the addition of new/updated files as your company and portfolio grows.

2. SCHEDULE BACKUPS regularly. Depending on how frequently you create and edit files create a schedule and be sure to stick to it. Set an alarm or find a way to schedule automatic updates.

So the flaw in all this, who knows where my software backups have gone…

“How do I do that?”

Talking Smack - 1 year ago - admin

On more than one occasion in the last few months I have been engaged in conversation with an acquaintance who has in some form or another asked the same question: “How do I do that?”

Being someone who has learned through observation, trial, error, correction and then strive for perfection, hearing this dialogue confuses me. In an age when we have a wealth of information just a click away there should be no reason for people to ask such questions. I have learned that even if I am unable to find the actual information teaching how to do something, I will usually find out how to go about learning. The best part about researching online is that you never really know what that itsy bitsy google spider is gonna display in return for your search request. You may find a bigger and better idea.

It is never about what you actually achieve, but rather what you learned while fiercely climbing to the top. While we still have our liberties and freedom (sort of) use the internet to learn how to start a blog or figure out how to start an online business.

Surprise yourself by breaking out of your mold. Instead of spending the coming months watching TV, go online and do a search on how to create a photo album and burn a CD. Perhaps this will help you achieve your idea of creating a photo album to give out as a holiday gift this year.

There is nothing wrong with calling someone who you consider to be the authority on a topic to pick his/her brain for info, but far more beneficial would be to do your research first so that when they are explaining you will be able to comprehend the concepts better.
